Archway Blue

It is true that many people around here paint their walls blue and as long as it facinates me my blue phase will continue.
Fortunately i was on the right time because soon afterwards the guy in the house also painted the stones around the arch in the blue-paint left with him.

Turban Man Paint off..so far...Face it

The top two are by David Lobenberg ..what he has done so far..,whom I am "facing" in this paint off ..He is indeed a bold colorist and good with faces.
and below some 3 attemptss I am still trying .Usually i do more than 1 attempts and realize probably first was the best. This time I am not sure probably first is not as good as third which is better than the second which is not as good as first ..got it?
When it come to painting Face..face it, there is always a tie between a painterly rendition and getting likeness.
Masters are those who achive both.. like Charles Reid who make our life unhappy
You might wonder all three men look different..Ya ,most of the time people whom i portray refuse to look like their portraits...not my fault..
Pl. visit David's bog.. http://davidlobenberg.blogspot.com/ for his updated work.

Middle Room

Sometimes if the objects are less defined the pleasure of shapes tones and color can give us a better feeling of visual sensetion.anyone to agree?

Good Morning

My wife has left home early for work and the tea is not ready like everyday. She was in a hurry and tea ,suger bottles were not refilled so she left without having tea.the moral is now i have to hunt for the supplies and make tea if I want one.
All the same painting these empty bottles was fun.

Attempt one

My computer C drive had gone crash but fortunately my hardware friend managed to recover most, and now I am happy and relieved.

My friend David Lobenberg and me, we have decided to do a painting from this source photo of mine.

Many times when attempting a new painting I end up doing two or three versions at the same time trying kind of different approaches .this time is no exception. This is one of them .Not sure this one is complete or already overworked. I have tried to simplify the clutter behind and removed the ad poster showing "Officer's choice”. I am no officer neither this one is of my choice

Steel Life

From my AT HOME series. Many people respond saying wow or etc.to this kind of rendering of steel objects. If I take them to my kitchen and show them the real steel barrel they wonder what I am showing them...the question is what really makes us say wow or pleases us asthetically.

Parked

It is not the subject but the relation of line, shapes, tones color that really inspire us to paint. After that it is our selection, subtraction and emphasis that define the composition.
Today talking to a friend of mine during my exhibit we discovered four "C"s
Content, Composition, Color and Complexion. Further we thought a little unfortunate thing is many could be buyers respond to content and composition but think more of suitability or decorativeness of color and complexion while making a decision to buy. may be I might be wrong.

Mirror View

Another oldie but had been quiet favorite.this was painted in gouache on a tinted paper.
the view is trough the mirror .the basin platform helped putting all the paint stuff on one side and painting on a table top easle on the other side.

Blue

Usually I can’t paint so bright and dark. This one is acrylic on some sort of oil paper. I am happy when I can get chiaroscuro photorealistic effect yet reflecting some kind of abstract content. This usually does not happen every time and none the less if we strive for it.

Finished..!?!

Started this one with bold Black washes which could be under painting tonal plan and somehow stopped at that point.
Later added a blue wash with spray gun.
I am happy here with the result and almost feeling a triumph, I could STOP.
Any comment?

Half blue house

Last time I wrote- Somene long back said -there is no artist studio in the world where you will not find a study-sketch superior to the finished painting. unfortunate and unfair but true i believe....David did not agree which is good.
