Old man

I guess he was a very honest looking old man. Some of my friends when I show them this portrait say he looks a bit like Osama while the other say he looks like Osho. Some just say I have painted the beard very good.

Your paintings are sensitive and beautiful. The soft colors are perfect in this portrait.

I just stumbled onto your blog and WOW!! Your recent street scenes and your portraits are striking! Very nice handling of watercolor. This portait of old man is definately a 'keeper'!

Love the cool almost neutral grey hues on his face starting with his eyes and ending at his chin.

QUESTION - Were the highlights in his beard brought about by using frisket?

David
thanks,no frisket the painting is actually on a slightly tinted gray papaer.and the beard is opaque gouach which luckily has blended well with rest transperent washes.
