It is the Brandy/Alcohol effect??? or may be use of scraps like thread dipped in colour

David is right it was one of my snowscape in watercolor photoshopped.and Roshni is partly right too..a bit of alchohol effect ,not in painting..but..

Hi Mr Mulick. I am very excited to find a blog of yours as it reminds of my student days doing on spot watercolors always with your Watercolor book as my best reference.
I recently completed a small project where I was supposed to do some quick backgrounds which immediately took my mind to your style of watercolor and fortunately it worked out pretty well in photoshop as I am more a digital painter now.
