- I am a full time painter I paint what I see. It is not the subject but the shapes, tones, color and there relation along with the play of light that crates a sensation. I paint because I wish to respond and communicate this sensation. The selection of shapes and tones rendered in realistic style with washes and brushstrokes is my painting. The selection is my vision and creates a body for the sensation felt. If the viewer responds by saying “wow”, I believe he responds to that “abstract quality”,that”visual sensation” which I felt. This is probably my best reward and fulfillment than any long essay written by a critique

It is the Brandy/Alcohol effect??? or may be use of scraps like thread dipped in colour

David is right it was one of my snowscape in watercolor photoshopped.and Roshni is partly right too..a bit of alchohol effect ,not in painting..but..
Hi Mr Mulick. I am very excited to find a blog of yours as it reminds of my student days doing on spot watercolors always with your Watercolor book as my best reference.
I recently completed a small project where I was supposed to do some quick backgrounds which immediately took my mind to your style of watercolor and fortunately it worked out pretty well in photoshop as I am more a digital painter now. So I could guess this one of yours Photoshoped. I've those on my blog www.mindrips.wordpress.com
